Medical Massage

Not receiving the benefits of massage can be detrimental to our health and wellness.  Many medical professionals suggest massage for physical and emotional benefits.

ABMP communicated with the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) on August 28, 2020, and verified that medical massage therapy is now allowed to be performed indoors, regardless of which county you are in. The CDPH stated:

“Medical massage (massage done based on a referral from a

doctor or chiropractor)
is permitted indoors at this time because

it is considered an essential sector under
healthcare and essential

activities are able to continue operating.

New Governor Orders

7/14/2020

Yesterday Governor Newsom closed INDOOR OPERATIONS for personal care services including massage.  I have already been doing the majority of my massages outdoors so this will not be a difficult adjustment.

Please have a cool space outdoors, on a balcony, or as an extension from an indoor space that opens out to open space.  Ventilation has always been of utmost concern.

Thank you for your understanding so we can move forward safely bringing relaxation to your life.  It is definitely needed.

Reopening

I am slowly transitioning to being fully reopened for massage this upcoming weekend.  I look forward to scheduling everyone.  I am doing less appointments daily and having larger gaps of times between clients to consider safety.  I look forward to bringing healing and transformation into your lives again!

I will operate based on the guidelines established by state and local health regulators, federal guidelines, and the best practices now being shared throughout the massage therapy industry.  Some thoughts on safety considerations are in another blog post.  Also, I am happy to communicate one on on, listen to your concerns, and am open to add extra precautions at your request.

Yay!

Safety Considerations

Though there is no 100% way to eliminate all risks of COVID-19 transmission, I am a commitment to caution and diligence with your help so we can maintain the integrity of the healing space in the face of COVID-19 concerns.

I invite you to join me in the commitment to following the CDC guidelines in being vigilant of symptoms (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficult breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea) and finding a LA County COVID-19 testing location if you come into contact with anyone who tests positive.

There is no scientifically proven efficacy of eliminating possibility of COVID-19 transmission with use of cloth face coverings. Therefore, please cancel if you are displaying symptoms.  Face coverings do not take the place of body informed discernment.  They are an extra precaution.
  • Because I will be wearing a face covering, I ask that you have the space we work in cool.  Ventilation will also be helpful. If we normally work in a small space, I ask that we keep the door open for circulation.
  • If you can't wear a face mask - due to disability - please keep social distance during conversation.  Please have a towel nearby to cover cough or sneeze during massage - and/or retreat under sheet.

My safety protocols
  • I am a commitment to the CDC guidelines - for COVID-19 transmission prevention.  Personally, I will keep a daily temperature log.  I will continue diligent self-care through muscle testing to strengthen my immune system with the use of supplements.  If I have a temperature or am feeling symptoms, I will cancel our appointment, get tested, and quarantine - according to CDC guidelines.  I am a commitment to your health and the integrity of the healing safe space.
  • At all times, I will wear a face covering while in your home.
  • I will continue with diligent hand washing as well as continue with liberal use of hand sanitizer (60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol) before, during, and after massaging.
  • I will continue with thoroughly disinfecting table, face cradle, bolster, massage bottle, and all supplies.  Primarily, I will be using Rejuvenate products for disinfectant which are hospital grade with patented Accelerated Hydrogen Peroxide - safer for people and the environment.  Please check out their website for more info.  Secondarily, I will have clorox wipes when unable to supply Rejuvenate.
  • Please communicate if you'd prefer no facial massage.  Otherwise, I will use cloth over your face for any facial work.
  • I will limit speaking when you are face up - just to be extra cautious and have less possibility of droplets in the air.
  • Payment options are available for no touch abilities.  Square has an ability to use your Mac “wallet" to hover over my phone for payment.  If you use your card instead, I will let you place it into the card reader, and I will sign for you - as on file.  Or you may Venmo @Veronica-Bruce.

Client Suggestions
  • Please feel encouraged to cancel a session if exhibiting symptoms or concerns of COVID-19.  No cancellation fees will apply.
  • Please launder and store your own sheets and blanket.  I will carry sheets on hand as well, but feel it is best for all to eliminate transport if possible.
  • Please provide clean reusable towels (3) for only my use or disposable paper towels - at sink for my hand washing.  I will bring my own supply as well - but will use yours if available for less possible contamination during transport.
  • Please wash your hands before and after receiving massage.
  • Please communicate any other extra precautions that would make you feel more safe.  If something occurs that makes you uncomfortable, please speak up at the time.  You are important to me, and I want to hear about your thoughts and feelings.

When Los Angeles County reopens, I look forward to seeing you and bringing healing and transformation into your life again.
